Maryland Magic

HBC Columbia and GBC Joppa Maureen and I flew into Baltimore Friday night (10-17-08) and had the pleasure of spending the weekend with Pastor Simpson and his wife Christina of Harvester Baptist Church.. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, and it was great seeing people we knew from years ago.  Harvester Baptist Church is our sending church. It is the church where Maureen and I were saved, baptized, met, and were married. HBC is also the first church we had the privilege to get on a web page. They have since taken over maintenance of their own website. We continue to host it for them for free (ekklesia-online.com). Maureen and I attended the missions banquet on Saturday night, and I was blessed to be able to present our work to the church. Two things about our ministry kept coming up in feedback provided by those that heard our first presentation.   Domain Rescue Mission – I need to put more information up about this. Right now we have "rescued" 70+ domains that churches have let (for whatever reason) lapse. The need for this ministry was driven home for me when I was maintaining our database (Baptist-Ministries.org) and found advertising websites where a church website should be, and the advertising was many times not something you would want to find on what should have been a church website. I...

Ministry Update

The Lord is working! This has been an interesting week! Tuesday – I received a call from a pastor in Michigan. Their domain had expired back in 2006, I rescued the domain and put up their web page. I noticed the pastor had health issues and put a prayer request fro the pastor on their web page. The pastor went home to be with the Lord in January. The new pastor was asking for information on taking over the web page. I set him up on Front Page and the church has taken over the web page. The Pastor indicated they appreciated the rescue, the prayer request for their pastor, and the fact that their web page was still up, as they had families come out to church that had seen the rescued website. I found a problem with a website I created back in 2006. I called and spoke to the pastor, and we got everything straightened out. The pastor asked if we could set up a domain for their Christian school students to set up their own web page. I set up a second level domain and provided the log in information for their students to create their own web page. I received a call from a member of a church in Arkansas. I had given their church a domain name I had (top level domain). He...

What a difference a day makes….

Sunday morning was another rough day. Instead of attending church services, I ended up with Jessica (my daughter) first at a urgent care facility, and then at the Emergency room at Baylor Garland Hospital (to rule out appendicitis). I put five hours in, and Maureen relieved my. They made it home by about 4 PM, it appeared to be an infection, not appendecitis (praise God). Maureen and I made it to evening service.Last week saw 40% or so in our retirement go up in smoke. Today a large portion of the retirement returned as the market rebounded. This morning I was contacted by a church we had built a web page for several years agao. They received our prayer letter. After talking to the pastor for a while, he said he was going to bring us up to his church to get them to start sending us some support. I thank the Lord for His goodness and mercy. I thank you for your prayers,Bob Source: Cyber-Missions...

Due South

Things could be going better I mentioned in the last update that I needed to move domains from an existing server by 10/19. Earlier this week I saw the expiration date was 10/19 – 2009??? Apparently the account auto renewed on 10/04. The good news is that I am no longer under a time crunch. I was making labels for our ministry CDs. The first two printed okay, the last three came out so that the printing did not match the cutouts. I guess I am going to need to hand write the labels for the time being. This is the second time I am attempting to type in this update. The last update did not save for some reason (you may find it roaming around this site somewhere). Please continue to pray for us as the Lord leads you, the devil is fighting pretty hard.Bob...

Ministry Update

I am still not sure what caused the battery to go dead, I may have left the dome light on. The truck would not start after a five hour charge. We finally jumped the battery and the truck started. I drove it around for a while an the battery seems to be holding a charge. I have put out a newsletter, you can find it in the ministry links or click on the newsletter link here. We will be speaking at the Harvester Baptist Church Missions Banquet on 10/18/08. We will attend the morning service at Grace Baptist Church of Harford County in Joppa Maryland. I will have a 5 minute presentation during the service. I am in the process of moving domains from a server I will be shutting down (have to be done by 10/17). The server I am moving to started having configuration problems, so I can't get anything moved. Time is running out, and, as usual, there are problems with everything we are trying to accomplish. Please pray for us as the Lord...
