Month: December 2008

12/19/2008 Update

Our daughter went through the procedure (to determine whether or not she had problems with her pancreas). Good news and bad news. The bad news is they still have not found a specific problem. The good news is that the doctor said the symptoms are treatable.Maureen goes in for a biopsy on Monday (12/22/2008). Please keep her in prayer if you will. We pray that she does not have cancer.Keep me in prayer, as I have had tests this week for a potential kidney problem. Man when it rains it pours! God is in control though.I was contacted by Pastor McConkey of Grace Baptist Church of Harford County this evening. Pastor McConkey wants to start a blog. I set up a WordPress Blog for him tonight. We have many blog software templates available, and provide them at no cost to Indpendent Baptist Ministries! Interested in one? Send me an email.I have some fantastic free Christian backgrounds that I have started using in the generic websites. They look nice…I expect to post more before Christmas, but in case I don't I pray you and yours have a fantastic Christmas!  Source: Cyber-Missions...

Prayer Request

Our daughter has been sick for over a month. The doctors can’t figure out what is wrong. We have a 6:15 appointment this morning for a diagnostic (the fourth?). Please pray that the Lord gives the doctors wisdom, and that they can identify and heal her body! Source: Cyber-Missions...

Source of Light Bible Correspondence School

FamilyNet International (our ministry) has sent out over 23,000 Bible correspondence course lessons over our years of ministry. The cost for postage (particularly for our international students) is high. I called and spoke to Bill Shade (General Director) today about the possibility of putting their courses online. SOL has been working on getting their lessons online. I sent them a copy of our presentation, and we are praying about the direction the Lord would have us to go.Please pray for the Lord’s leading on this project. Source: Cyber-Missions...

Sonday

On Saturday I was thinking about the need to keep in touch with all the Pastors I have had contact with. A search for contact software (also called CRM – Customer Relationship Management) turned up software that would cost upwards of $100 (ACT!, Goldmine etc).  On Sunday morning I was thinking about this software being nothing more than a relational database. I have MS Office, and included with MS Office is a relational database (MS Access). I can hack my way through Access, but building a usable contact database would take some time. I did a search on Access Contact Management Templates. This turned up a "Sales Management Contact Database" template availabe for Office 2003 on the Microsoft Website (free). I downloaded it and spent a large part of the day figuring out how to import my Excel spreadsheets. Ultimately it worked. There was a fantastic Christmas presentation at Lavon Drive Baptist Church last night. It definitely brought focus on the Christmas Holiday to bear on Jesus! We pray you all have a Blessed CHRISTmas,Bob Source: Cyber-Missions...

A Domain Rescued back in June

The following is part an email I received regarding a domain that was "rescued" in June. The email came in yesterday.Bob Hoffman, I would first like to commend and thank you for your efforts to rescue  domain names from those who would like to use them for ungodly purposes. I  didn’t know anyone was doing this and to my shame had not even thought of  doing it myself and I am even aware of the fact that expired church  domains are targeted by some very ungodly groups. Again, thank you for  what you are doing. I am writing to you on behalf of ********* Baptist Church in **********, NC.  Thank you for rescuing their domain. They are currently going through a  pastoral transition and the interim pastor has asked me to  research the steps necessary to regain control of the domain. They have had quite a bit of interest recently as a result of the website  even with some of the information being incorrect. Your web presence is a powerful tool! Protect it! I spoke to this pastor and we are in the process of working out the details of turning the domain back over to the church and this contact. The pastor has asked us to send him information on the ministry. Please continue to pray for wisdom for us!BobPS – I am probably going to change the category of these articles...
