Maranatha Baptist Church Rantoul Illinois

I received a call today from Pastor Wilkerson of Maranatha Baptist Church in Rantoul Illinois. I set up a starter website for them at http://rantoul-il.maranatha-baptist.us back in 2006. We spoke back in January and he was looking into options for creating a permanent website for their church. Among other things he was going to look at Crown Web. I think that Crown Web has a fantastic, template based service but I from what I had heard I thought they were pricy ($17.95 per month). He looked into Crown Web, and he said they were asking for $30 per month. This is very expensive. A shared server solution with is available with Unlimited disk space, unlimited domain hosting and unlimited bandwidth for $5-$7 per month. The service comes with free setup, a free domain, and allsorts of free software (including the templates we use, as well as software like WordPress, Mambo, Joomla, Xoops etc). We are an affiliate (if you are looking to do something like this, we can get a commission – you can investigate and sign up at lypha.ekklesia-online.com) of one.  Another company he had looked at that sets up church websites wanted a $695 set up fee. Pastor Wilkerson wants to get some software to create the website locally and upload the software to a hosted website. We provide hosting at no charge. He can do that...

Victory Baptist Church in Terrell

We attended Victory Baptist Church in Terrell Texas on Sunday.Pastor Eugene Williams and the rest of the congregation were very friendly, Their website is at http://www.victory-baptist-online.org The church runs about 50. The service was a blessing! It is clear now that our ministry is serving small churches. We do not charge for anything we do, and many of the churches we are visiting, and creating a web presence for do not have the resources or technical expertise to create and maintain a web presence. I spent this morning with Pastor Paul Price of Gatewood Baptist Church, completing their website...

Ivory Coast

Computers Are Fun! A couple of young nurses from Lavon Drive Baptist Church are planning an “Ivory Coast Medical Missions Trip” this summer. I asked them if they would like a web page set up, and they said they would. I spent the better part of today putting up a web page for them at http://www.icmmt.com. I opted to use the templates to get more practice in building sites with them in order to be able to help those churches that choose to use them. I don't have any feedback from the nurses on the site yet,  I expect some changes.  The computers are still throwing fits. I have decided to try and repair the Windows Vista installation I have on my laptop, since many of the features are broken (as much as I hate Windows, it is likely that I am responsible, since in order to fix some nagging problems, I decided to simply remove some software programs that were installed, such as office 2007 and Works). Anyway, the distribution CD appears to want to reformat the hard drive, and does not allow me to “repair” the Vista installation (it may actually allow a repair but it is not evident). I have been backing up the hard drive to DVD now for 8 hours and I suspect I am about 3/4 completed. I will let you all know...

Bible Correspondence School Update

2 More Saved We saw two more people who are taking the Bible Correspondence Courses make professions this week.  a 49 year old man in a California prisona 32 year old lady in IndianaWe have five new students from Cameroon enrolled this week. I was contacted by a student at Ambassador Baptist College in North Carolina this week. He attends a small church and wanted to put up a website for the church. He did a Google search and found one of our “unofficial” websites. He would like to try the templates to put up a website for the church (he does not have time “to learn a new programming language”).  I spoke to the Pastor briefly yesterday. The Pastor confirmed the student attends the church, but was concerned about any cost that might be involved. I told him we did not charge for anything we do, and would get their church set up on a nice website. I registered a domain for the church and set up templates. I am waiting to hear back from the student at this time. Source: Cyber-Missions...
